This useful document contains all of the different spellings/letter arrangements (graphemes) that make up the vowel sounds (vowel phonemes). This document explores the basic vowel sounds of A, E, I, O and U. It’s true value is found when looking at all of the different letter combinations that also create those long vowel sounds. For example, /ai/ makes the singular /a/ sound, as in the word “rain”. Imagine having a cohesive list in chart form that provides all these combinations for you. That is what this document provides! The charts can be printed in black and white and on regular paper to be simply used as reference. The charts can also be copied in full color and on cardstock to provide a great bulletin board addition! This item is helpful when looking at how the long vowels have so many variations of ways to create their sounds.
