The Bookmark It Activity is a set of 22 bookmarks that cover the different phonics sequences.

The overall rationale behind the Bookmark It Activity is to allow students to improve spelling and pronunciation while recognizing the different phonics sequences in the comfort of their book of choice!

Knowing the difference between long and short vowels helps improve pronunciation and spelling and allows readers to recognize the words' meaning better. A long vowel is a vowel that is pronounced to a longer extent and makes a different sound than a short vowel does. For example, the words “cake” and “ride” are long vowels. Long vowels are usually words with a silent “e” at the end. Short vowels are pronounced to a shorter extent and sound more clipped or condensed than long vowels. For example, the words “cat” and “hat” are short vowels. Short vowels usually have a consonant ensuing the vowel.

This activity also covers diphthongs, compound words, trigraphs, floss words, vowel team words, blends, tenses, and more! Understanding these phonics sequences is essential for literacy, pronunciation, and language development. Make phonics more fun for your students with this activity!
