Phonogram Flashcards : This document has a total of 58 pages.
There are 75 basic phonograms (letters used to write sounds) that represent the 45 English phonemes (sounds letters create).
English has 45 sounds (phonemes), 26 letters, and 75 common ways to write them! Phonograms can be spelled with one letter like /t/, two letters like /sh/, three letters like /igh/ or four letters like /eigh/.
Teaching the phonemes is much more efficient and systemic way to teaching children how to read.
The Phonogram Flashcards are designed to teachers and students become familiar with and practice the sounds and all the ways the same sounds can be created in the English language.
Consonants are represented with solid blue outlines.
Vowels are represented with Solid and dashed pink outlines. The solid ones are for the long vowel sound, and the dashed ones are for the short vowel sounds.
Add cards as new phonemes are addressed with students. These are also great for take-home purposes, paired activities, and sound wall ideas.
